Interaction of Color
Expanding a master work
The Interaction of Color app for Yale University is based on Josef Albers’ influential book on color, originally published in 1963, a staple for art & design students for decades. The app stays focused on the original conceptual intention of Albers: his principles of color theory and the integrity of the work itself. Read the full text and interact with over 125 color plates, watch original video commentary by experts, plus over 60 interactive studies are available to create, save, and export palettes or final designs.

Inspired by Albers’ teaching, each plate reproduces the experience of working with cut & colored paper. Interactions feel natural, intuitive and as exploratory as possible.
